It’s been a heavy few weeks, hasn’t it? It can be tough to find the light these days. So, tonight I’m sharing with you some things that are helping me get through and find positivity (or at least, ease my mind).
First, this beautiful soundscape by Secular Sabbath is so peaceful and serene, I’ve been playing it in the background when I need to chill out.
If you haven’t heard of her, Glennon Doyle is an absolute ray of sunshine. The hilarious videos that her wife, olympian Abby Wambach, posts of her on Instagram are solid gold. I’ve been devouring Glennon’s podcast appearances – notably, her recent one with Brené Brown. Have a listen. I’m hoping to read her latest book, Untamed.
Speaking of reading, I finally ordered a copy of Elizabeth Gilbert’s newest novel, City of Girls. I’m halfway through and it’s just as stellar as everyone says it is.
Every day, my inbox is graced with two lovely newsletters: one from my favorite artist, Brian Andreas, and a note from the universe. They both uplift my spirits, and they’re often incredibly relatable, like these two recent pieces from Brian:
At home, I’m enjoying spring citrus from my neighborhood. My new home has a clementine tree and the fruit is superb. My neighbors leave bags of citrus on the curb, which I’ve picked up on my walks and diligently washed prior to enjoying. Particularly, the juice. There’s nothing like fresh, local grapefruit juice, or a little honey lemon mocktail.
I’ve been lighting candles every day, and trying to remember to make it outside. I zipped through a puzzle in just three nights. And I’ve been enjoying cooking in my new kitchen. I hope you’re finding simple joys at home, too.
In light of our limited ability to get out and attend wellness events, yoga, and the like, our online community has majorly stepped up. The Chalkboard Mag introduced its Instagram Live “Apart, But Together” Series, Wanderlust launched a robust global live class schedule (also via Instagram). Secular Sabbath has been hosting regular live streams, too. A friend recommended Stop, Drop, and Dance to me, which I’m trying tomorrow. Check out a list of events and free resources below. Check back for next week’s list.
