For me, it can seem like an easy choice to stay up later to get something done (and miss out on sleep) or pick up takeout because I’m too busy to cook that day (and sacrifice my healthy eating streak). In the end, I’ve found these practices aren’t really worth it. When I do these things, I actually make my situation worse by neglecting to truly, deeply care for myself.
When I notice myself slipping up on the self-care activities that I normally make a priority, I know that it’s time to sneak in some self-care acts, no matter how small. I start with essential oils and a nourishing meal, and go from there. I’m sure I’m not the only one, so I wrote an article about eight simple things you can do to practice self-love when your mind tells you you’re too busy.
